A man has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Annan.
Police were called to reports of the alleged incident on High Street, near to the junction with Butts Street, in the town at around 11pm on Friday May 28.
Officers say that a male has been cuffed.
Cops have since launched an appeal for information as their probe continues.
Police are trying to track down a woman who reportedly came to the aid of the injured person.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police are looking for witnesses to a serious assault which occurred about 2300 hours on May 28 on High Street, Annan near to the junction with Butts Street.
“A male has been arrested in relations to the incident however we are still keen to trace a female who assisted the injured person.
