Man arrested in connection with murder of pensioner at Cork Street flats

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a pensioner at a south inner city flat complex last week.

Kwok Ping Cheng, 76, was found dead at his home in Robinson's Court, off Cork Street, on Thursday, April 29.

He was found lying in a pool of blood and a murder investigation was launched by gardai.

A man in his 20s was arrested this morning on suspicion of murder.

He is currently being held at a south Dublin garda station.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí in Kevin Street have this morning, Wednesday 5th May 2021, arrested a man in his 20s in relation to the discovery of body of a male at a residence on Cork Street, Dublin 8 on the 29th April 2021.

"He is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a south Dublin Garda station on suspicion of murder.

"Investigations are ongoing."
