Man arrested in connection with murder of Derek Coakley-Hutch

A man was arrested this morning in connection with the murder of Derek Coakley-Hutch.

The man, who is in his 20s, is being held at Ronanstown garda station and is the third person to be arrested in the investigation.

Coakley-Hutch was the 14th victim of the Kinahan/Hutch feud after he was shot while sitting in his car at a halting site in Ronanstown, Clondalkin, on Saturday 20 January 2018.

The 27-year-old, who was originally from the north inner city, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He had travelled to the site with two other men who had both left the car before a black Volkswagen Golf pulled in and one of its occupants starting firing shots.

Coakley-Hutch was hit at least three times as he desperately tried to put the car in reverse in a bid to escape.

He then fell out of the driver's side before being hit with a fatal shot to his head.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí investigating the murder of Derek Coakley-Hutch who was shot on 20th January, 2018 have arrested one man (mid 20s) this morning, 26th April, 2019 in connection with the murder.

"He is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under the provisions of section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, as amended.

"He is the third person to be arrested in relation to this investigation."
