Man arrested in connection with Govan flat gas explosion

A man has been arrested in connection with a gas explosion at a flat in Govan, which police are currently treating as attempted murder.

The occupants of the flat, a 26-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were raced to hospital after the blast in Kennedar Drive, Elderpark at around 7:05am yesterday morning.

The man remains at the Royal Infirmary after suffering burn injuries. Medical staff describe his condition as critical.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to minor injuries. She has since been discharged.

Police Scotland have announced a 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
