A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged rape of a woman in Edinburgh city centre.
The 45-year-old victim was allegedly sexually assaulted in Carrubbers Close , near to the Royal Mile in the early hours of this morning at around 3.15am.
Forensic officers from Police Scotland are remain on the scene.
Inquiries into the incident are currently ongoing after a man was cuffed in connection with the incident.
A force spokesperson said: "Police in Edinburgh are investigating a report of serious sexual assault on a 45-year-old woman.
"The incident happened around 3.15am on Friday 6th September in Carrubbers Close.
"A man has been arrested in connection with this investigation and inquiries are continuing."
