Man arrested in connection with abduction and attack on Quinn executive Kevin Lunney

A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged abduction of and attack on Kevin Lunney.

The Quinn executive was allegedly kidnapped near his home in Co Fermanagh and brutally beaten by a gang of thugs on September 17.

Gardai arrested the man, who is aged in his 50s, and he is currently detained in Cavan Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

Mr Lunney, 50, endured horrific “life-changing” injuries in the "vicious attack" after he was ambushed a short distance from his house in Kinawley back in September 2019.

He was repeatedly cut and slashed across the face and body with a Stanley knife, doused in bleach and beaten with a wooden post in a horrific attack which is said to have lasted two-and-a-half hours.

He received serious injuries, including a broken leg and had the the letters ‘QIH’ carved into his chest.

The father-of-six was later found bleeding on a remote roadside in Co Cavan.

The investigation into Mr Lunney’s ordeal took an unexpected twist when chief suspect Cyril “Dublin Jimmy” McGuinness, 54, dropped dead during a police raid at a house in Derbyshire in the UK.
