A man has been arrested for trespassing at Parliament as tens of thousands of people marched to Parliament Square to demand a vote on Boris Johnson's Brexit deal.

Police said officers arrested a 29-year-old man at the Palace of Westminster for trespassing at a protected site just before 1.30pm on Saturday.

The man has been taken to a south London police station and inquiries are ongoing.

A spokeswoman for the House of Commons confirmed an “incident” had taken place involving a visitor.

“We are aware of an incident involving a visitor in a public area of the Parliamentary estate.

"Security staff and the police attended and the situation has been resolved,” she said.
