A murder probe has been launched after an elderly woman was found not breathing in a bath at her home.
A man, believed to be known to the victim in her 80s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder at the scene in Rushden Gardens, Clayhall.
Paramedics fought for nearly an hour to save the woman but she was pronounced dead at 11.48am.
Footage on social media shows a man, 54, being put in the back of a police van. He has been taken into custody.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “A crime scene is in place and homicide detectives from specialist crime have been informed.
“A post mortem will be carried out in due course.
“The woman and the man are known to each other.”
