Man arrested for growing cannabis and drugs seized as police launch crackdown

A man has been arrested for growing cannabis and drugs have been seized under a new police crackdown.

Officers have been carrying out raids this morning, including some for firearms and drugs, as part of Operation Lance.

The crackdown is focusing on crime, disorder, vulnerability and anti-social behaviour across the district, police said.

In a thread on the GMP Wythenshawe Twitter account, the force said they had raided a house on Wythenshawe Road.

They tweeted a picture of more of than dozen cannabis plants that were found growing inside.

"We've found and seized a number of cannabis plants from an address already as part of #OpLance", an update said.

"All of the information we receive helps us to combat the issues that matter to those in the community."

The force then added that they arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of cultivating cannabis after the raid.

GMP City Centre also tweeted a picture of another raid in the district.

Alongside the picture, an officer wrote: "#OpLance - Officer started early this morning conducting warrants across Manchester, in relation to the supply of drugs into the City Centre.

"Great result with drugs seized from the address. Sgt K."

GMP are posting updates on the operation on their social media accounts throughout the day.
