A man was arrested on suspicion of “headbutting” and “punching” a disabled man protesting a New Year’s Day hunt in Co Down .
Police have appealed for witnesses to the alleged incident at Darragh Road near Saintfield.
The reported victim, 45, is registered disabled and needs a cane to walk.
A 55-year-old Downpatrick man has been questioned on suspicion of common assault and theft and released on bail pending further enquiries to “establish the circumstances surrounding the incident”.
Sergeant Donnelly said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident which is believed to have occurred around 11.45am on Wednesday, 1 January to contact police at Downpatrick on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1234 01/01/20.
“Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
