Man arrested following incident in East Kilbride

A was arrested in East Kilbride last night for allegedly being in possession of a weapon.

Police rushed to Greenhills Square around 9pm last night following reports of a man behaving aggressively in the street.

Videos and pictures circulating online show a man in the middle of the road shouting and waving a bottle in the air. He is expected to appear at court today.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the Greenhills Square area of East Kilbride at around 9.25pm on Thursday, May 20, after a report of a man threatening people with a bottle.

“A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday, May 21.”
