Man arrested following 'hit and run' in Droylsden

A woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Tameside.

Emergency services were called to Moorside Street in Droylsden just before 11.30am on Thursday following reports of a collision.

The vehicle - which witnesses claim was a black Mercedes - drove off from the scene.

GMP confirmed that a man has since been arrested in connection with the incident.

He remains in custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing,

The woman, whose age is currently unclear, suffered leg injuries, however police say they are not believed to have been serious.

Moorside Street was closed in both directions between Jack Lane and Holyoake Street while emergency services attended.

It reopened at around 1.15pm.

A spokesman for GMP said: "We were called to Moorside Street at around 11.30am to reports a woman had been hit by a car.

"The woman suffered leg injuries not believed to be serious.

"The driver left the scene but has since been arrested.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
