Man arrested following alleged stabbing at Donegall Quay

A man has been arrested following an alleged stabbing close to Belfast's Big Fish.

The incident at Donegall Quay was reported shortly after 9.30pm on Thursday night.

A man was taken to hospital for treatment and is described as critically ill.

The 29-year-old now in police custody was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an article with blade or point in a public place.

Detective Sergeant Will Arnott said: "Shortly after 9.30pm police received a report that a man had been stabbed in the neck on Donegall Quay close to the Big Fish.

"The man was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition is described as critical

"The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an article with blade or point in a public place. He is currently assisting with police enquiries.

"We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist our investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101, quoting reference number 2243 25/06/20.
