Man arrested at Nottingham station after making threatening comments to partner on train

A man was arrested in Nottingham after making threatening remarks towards his partner while on board a train.

An East Midlands Railway train guard alerted British Transport Police to the situation by texting 61016 – the number used to report non-emergencies.

Officers were then waiting at Nottingham station when the service arrived to make the arrest.

British Transport Police Nottinghamshire said on Twitter in the early hours of Monday morning: “A male has been arrested this evening, after being overheard making threats towards his partner.

“The @EastMidRailway train guard was quick to react and contacted btp via #text61016, so officers were waiting as the service arriving into Nottingham.”

According to the Crime Survey for England and Wales, an estimated 4.5 per cent of adults aged 16 to 59 years had experienced partner abuse in the last year.

Around one-quarter of partner abuse victims sustained a physical injury as a result of the victimisation.
