Man arrested at Gatwick airport in terror probe

LONDON, ENGLAND - DECEMBER 20: A parked plane at Gatwick airport on December 20, 2018 in London, England. Authorities at Gatwick closed the runway after drones were spotted over the airport on the night of December 19. The shutdown has sparked a succession of delays and diversions in the run up to the Christmas getaway, in what authorities have called a 'deliberate act' to disrupt the airport. A man has been arrested at Gatwick Airport over a suspected terrorism offence.

Police detained the 25-year-old suspect at around 4am on Monday morning after he arrived on a flight from Turkey.

He was arrested on "suspicion of possession of material likely to be useful to a terrorist," Scotland Yard's Counter Terrorism command said.

The man remains in custody at a central London police station.

Detectives are searching an address in north London as part of the ongoing investigation.
