Man arrested as Tollcross street disturbance leads to police lockdown

A man has been arrested following a disturbance in Tollcross.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance on Eversley Street around 12.15pm on Thursday.

A 47-year-old man was rushed to the hospital while a search for the suspect was launched by CID officers.

Cordons were placed throughout the street and sniffer dogs were brought in in a bid to trace the person responsible.

Residents of Eversley Street were told to remain in their homes while the investigation into the disturbance was carried out and told that access to footpath and roadways would be restricted in the meantime.

One local business owner told the Daily Record: "My friend's daughter has been locked inside her room for hours because she stays on that street.

"She doesn't know what to do because the police won't let her out yet. They won't tell her what has happened."

Police have now confirmed that a 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: "Officers were called to reports of a disturbance on Eversley Street, Glasgow around 12.15pm on Thursday, 23 June, 2022.

"A 47-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

"A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
