A major search for missing teenager Svetlana Murphy has ended after she was located in Belfast on Thursday evening.
The PSNI and An Garda Siochana were involved in a Child Rescue Ireland (CRI) Alert, as it was believed that 14-year-old, from Co Louth, travelled to Newry on Monday.
However, following a cross-border operation, the PSNI said that she has been found "safe and well".
Gardaí also confirmed that the CRI Alert had now been stood down.
It was reported that at approximately 4pm on April 19, Svetlana left her home on Coast Road, Blackrock, Co Louth.
Authorities in the Republic of Ireland issued an alert at midnight on Wednesday after developing serious concerns that there was an “immediate and serious risk” to the health and welfare of Svetlana.
CRI alerts are only issued in the most urgent of missing person cases, where there is significant concern for the safety of a child, including cases of abductions.
An 18-year-old male has also been arrested and the police said that he was currently assisting with their enquiries.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Following a Child Rescue Ireland (CRI) Alert issued by An Garda Síochána, police confirm that 14-year-old Svetlana Murphy has been located safe and well.
"An 18 year-old-man has been arrested.
"Thank you all for your assistance with this investigation."
An Garda Siochana added: "Svetlana Murphy has been located safe and well in Belfast this evening.
"She will be reunited with her family tonight. "
