Man arrested as massive brawl breaks out on Harcourt Street, Dublin in shocking video

One man has been arrested after a massive brawl broke out on one of Dublin's busiest streets just hours into the start of the new year.

Outrageous footage obtained by Dublin Live shows two young men trading vicious blows before others join in on the steps of a building on Harcourt Street shortly before 5am on New Year's Day.

One of the men, who is wearing a red jumper, can be seen ferociously swinging punches in the direction of another man.

Several other young men appear to get involved in the incident and before long a drove of security guards rush in to try and stop the brawl.

Another man, who joins in the fight, can be seen swinging an object in the direction of another man twice on the steps but it is unclear what he is holding.

Towards the end of the video, a security guard can be seen being pulled down the steps and onto the ground by a man who he is trying to restrain.

Scared onlookers can do nothing but watch on as more security intervene and try to separate the two groups.

A spokeswoman for Gardai told Dublin Live: "Gardaí are investigating a Public Order incident that occurred on the 1st January 2020 at approximately 4.40am on Harcourt Street, Dublin.

They added: "A man in his 20s was arrested and taken to Kevin Street Garda station. No further information is available at this time."
