Man arrested as loaded shotgun found during raid on Cabra house

A man has been arrested after a loaded shotgun was found during a raid in north Dublin.

A search was carried out on a house in Cabra earlier today as part of a planned operation.

During the search a sawn-off shotgun as well as three rounds of ammunition were found.

A man in his 40s has been arrested and can be held for 72 hours.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí have recovered a loaded firearm and arrested one man during a planned operation in Cabra.

"As part of ongoing investigations a planned search was carried out at a house in Cabra earlier today (5/10/2019).

"During the search Gardaí recovered a shotgun (sawn-off) and three rounds of ammunition.

What to do in an emergency situation

"A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939, at Finglas Garda Station. He can be held for up to three days.

"The operation was carried out by detectives based at Cabra Station and members of the ASU (Armed Support Unit). Investigations are ongoing."
