Man arrested as gardai seize €140,000 worth of heroin in Arbour Place, Dublin 7

A man has been arrested after €140,000 of heroin was found during a search in north Dublin.

The search was carried out in Arbour Place, Dublin 7 at around 3.10pm on Monday.

Four people were spotted acting suspiciously by plain clothes gardai, and the vehicle they were in was stopped.

They then fled the scene, and the bag containing the heroin was seized.

A man was arrested following the seizure and is now being held at Store Street Garda Station, Dublin Live reports.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí from Store Street have seized €140,000 worth of heroin (pending analysis) and arrested a man following a stop and search operation conducted in the Arbour Place area of Dublin 7 that occurred on 30/12/2019 at approximately 3:10pm.

"Plain clothes Gardaí on patrol in the Dublin 7 area observed four persons acting suspiciously in a vehicle.

"The vehicle was stopped in the Arbour Hill area. The four persons fled the scene.

"A bag containing a large quantity of heroin was seized. A man in his 20s was arrested and is currently detained at Store Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drugs Trafficking Act 1996.

"Investigations are ongoing."
