Man arrested as firearm and cocaine found after several Dublin searches during huge organised crime operation

One man has been arrested after a semi-automatic gun, cocaine and drug paraphernalia were discovered following several searches across Dublin over the weekend.

The seizures were part of a huge operation to crack down on organised crime in the capital with The Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau searching a number of locations in west Dublin with the help of local stations.

During one of the investigations, officers found a large quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of €300,000.

As well as the big coke find; a firearm, Grand Power make and ammunition were uncovered during the multiple searches.

The arrested person, a 29-year-old man, is still being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll celebrated the big sting warning those involved in crime that they would continue to be earmarked by Gardai.

He said "An Garda Síochána continues to target those who are suspected to be involved in organised and serious crime and to attempt to locate and seize, the drugs they intend to sell within our communities and firearms they possess for the purpose of inflicting harm on others.”
