Man arrested as £350,000 worth of drugs seized in Scottish town

HUNDREDS of thousands of pounds worth of cocaine and cannabis has been seized by police in Moray

Officers raided a property in Barmuckity Lane, Elgin, at around 4.30pm on Wednesday and recovered cocaine and cannabis with a street value in the region of £350,000.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Detective Inspector Angus Morrison said the force is determined to protect the public from harmful criminality by disrupting the trafficking of illegal drugs.

He said: “This significant recovery sends a clear message that we will not tolerate illegal drugs in our communities.

“We are determined to protect the public from this harmful criminality by disrupting the trafficking of illegal substances, preventing them being circulated on our streets and addressing the concerns of local people.

“This action underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy.

“Information from the public is absolutely crucial to our work and we ask anyone with knowledge about drugs activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
