A man in his 20s has been arrested after Gardai seized a loaded gun and six rounds of ammunition at a home in East Wall this morning.
The arrest came as part of an investigation into burglaries that occurred at a premises on Merchants Road over the past six weeks.
Gardai from the detective unit in Store Street seized a loaded Beretta semi automatic pistol with 6 rounds of ammunition as part of the search, launched at 7:30am yesterday morning.
The Divisional Drugs assisted and cannabis with an estimated street value of €44,460, over 250 pouches of tobacco, exhibits in relation to the burglaries, and Diazepam tablets with a street value of €4,234 were also seized.
The man arrested was taken to Store Street Garda Station, where he is detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
The man remains in custody and investigations are ongoing according to Gardai.
