Man arrested and charged in connection with Scots takeaway fire

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fire at a Scots takeaway.

The incident occurred at Camelon Wok, a Chinese carryout on Main Street, Camelon in Falkirk.

Officers arrested and charged the 31-year-old suspect in the hours after the fire at the business premises early on Saturday 19 June.

Police are thought to have cordoned off the area surrounding the popular takeaway following the blaze.

Those in the homes above Camelon Wok are also said to have been evacuated by the emergency services.

The fire is believed to have began in a nearby shed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a fire on Main Street, Camelon, around 2.20am on Saturday, 19 June.

"A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with wilful fire-raising and appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court on Monday, 21 June."

It is not yet known whether there were any casualties as a result of the incident.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
