A man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged assaul t on a man and a woman on a Scots street.
The 54-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were allegedly beaten on Smith Street in Ayr on Saturday, July 3.
Cops have now confirmed a 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged and is due to appear in court at a later date.
Police launched a manhunt in the aftermath of the attack and have now brought charges.
In a statement today, Ayrshire Police Division confirmed: "With reference to our previous appeal regarding a 54 year-old man and a 30 year-old woman assaulted in Smith Street, Ayr on Saturday, 3 July, please note:
"A 26 year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with these assaults. He has been released on an undertaking to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.
"A full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
