Man arrested and charged after elderly pensioner robbed in her own home

A man has been arrested and charged after a 90-year-old Scots woman was robbed in her own home.

The incident allegedly happened at a property on Cameron Drive, Kilmarnock around 2.15pm and 2.30pm on Tuesday July 20.

The man made off with a two figure sum.

The alleged thief had previously carried out gardening work for the woman the previous day.

Detective Sergeant Keith Hyndes from Kilmarnock CID previously said: “This despicable individual preyed on a vulnerable elderly woman after carrying out some gardening work for her the day before, which was paid for in full at the time.

“Thankfully she was not injured during the incident but this was still an extremely distressing experience which has left her badly shaken."

He is due before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today and a full report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
