Man arrested and charged after £850k worth of drugs found in Midlothian house raid

A man has been arrested and charged after £850,000 worth of drugs was found during a police raid in Midlothian.

Police recovered the drugs, with an estimated street value of £850,000, at an address in Tait Drive, Penicuik on Monday.

On Friday Midlothian Police Division revealed that a 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The 50-year-old man will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court (Daily Record)

He was held in custody and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Deputy Local Area Commander, Inspector Jim Morrison said: "The supply and misuse of drugs has a devastating impact on people's lives, as well as a significant impact on our local community.

"We continue to work hard to tackle drug related crime in Midlothian area and are committed to bringing those responsible to justice."

Police are urging anyone with information regarding drug use in the local area to come forward.

"I would urge people to continue to tell us their concerns, as we are listening," Inspector Morrison added.

"Anyone with information about drug crime can report this to Police Scotland via 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800555111."
