Man arrested and €80,000 worth of cannabis seized in intelligence-led Garda raid on Donabate home

A man was arrested and €80,000 worth of cannabis was seized after an intelligence-led garda raid in North Dublin.

The seizure took place at a home in Donabate on Saturday.

Officers from the Coolock Divisional Drugs unit pounced on the home as part of the gardai's drugs crackdown Operation Tara.

The man, in his 50s, was arrested and detained at Swords Garda Station, but has since been released.

Gardai said: "Gardai have arrested a man and seized cannabis herb worth in excess of €80,000 in the course of a planned operation in North Dublin on Saturday, 10th July 2021.

"The drugs were seized as part of 'Operation Tara' during a planned search of a residential property in Donabate by gardai from the Divisional Drugs based at Coolock Station.

"A man in his 50s was arrested and detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Swords Garda Station. He has since been released pending further enquiries.

"Investigations are ongoing."
