A woman was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital last night after a reported assault.

Police say they received a report of the incident in the Fountain Street area of Belfast City Centre at around 9pm on Monday night.

They say that a woman aged in her 20’s sustained head and facial injuries after being allegedly approached by two men and a woman before being attacked.

A PSNI spokesperson added: "The man was reported to have punched and kicked the woman repeatedly.

"A 30 year old man was arrested a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a class C controlled drug and remains in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.

"An investigation is ongoing and detectives would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist them with their enquiries to contact police at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference number 1564 30/03/20."

A spokesperson for NIAS told Belfast Live that they received the incident call at 21:05.
