A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with a terrifying car-jacking incident that saw an innocent woman threatened at knifepoint in Dublin.
The horror incident took place at a garage in East Wall – with a man driving off in the woman's car before being intercepted by officers a short time later.
The man was arrested and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
He's expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court this morning after being charged in connection with the case.
Investigations are ongoing.
A Garda spokesperson said: "A man in his 40s is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court this morning in connection with a car-jacking incident in East Wall, Dublin on Monday 4th January 2021.
"The alarm was raised at approximately 10.30am yesterday morning when a woman (40s) was approached on the forecourt of a garage in East Wall by a male.
"It’s understood he threatened her at knife point and demanded her car keys before driving off in her car.
"The car was intercepted a short time later on the N3 following a managed containment operation involving local Gardaí, ASU and Roads Policing Units.
"The occupant of the car, a man in his 40s, was arrested and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"He is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court (CCJ 1) this morning (5/1/2021) charged in connection with the case."
