Man arrested after woman taken to hospital with serious injuries following incident in Tonyrefail

A man has been arrested after a woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm after a woman was discovered unconscious in Meyler Street, Tonyrefail, on Saturday, September 4.

An eyewitness reported seeing an air ambulance arrive near to the scene just after 1pm. The woman was taken to hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "Emergency services attended an address on Meyler Street, Tonyrefail, at around 12.50pm after reports of an unconscious woman.

"A 33-year-old woman has been taken to hospital where she is being assessed and treated for serious injuries. One 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm."

Police were in attendance at the scene for several hours on Saturday afternoon and scene of crime investigating officers turned up at the scene at around 4.20pm.

An eyewitness described seeing three forensics offices enter a property in Meyler Street and three police vehicles in the street on Saturday afternoon.

One neighbour said an ambulance had been in the back lane behind the property earlier in the day with a police vehicle still parked around the side of that area later on in the afternoon.
