Man arrested after woman seriously injured in Newton Mearns house as cops probe 'disturbance'

A man has been arrested after a woman was left seriously injured in East Renfrewshire.

swooped on a house in Castle Road at around 10pm on Sunday, following reports of a 'disturbance' inside a house.

A 41-year-old woman was rushed to hospital for serious injuries.

Police were called to Castle Road just after 10pm on Sunday (Daily Record)

Medics say her injuries are not believed to be 'life-threatening'.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A spokesman from the force told the Record: "We can confirm that a 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a disturbance within a house on Castle Road in Newton Mearns.

"The incident was reported shortly after 10.05pm on Sunday, December 8.


"A 41-year-old woman suffered serious injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

"Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The incident was contained to within the property and there was no wider risk to the public.

"Inquiries are ongoing."
