Man arrested after woman robbed while she was having an epileptic fit in Chinatown

A man has been arrested after a woman was robbed while suffering an epileptic fit in Manchester city centre.

The 39-year-old victim collapsed outside her office on Portland Street in Chinatown in the early hours of Thursday and suffered a serious seizure.

Her husband Jordan Royce told the Manchester Evening News how she was set upon almost immediately by thieves who emptied her pockets of a phone, cash and keys instead of helping.

Disturbing CCTV released by Manchester council last night showed two men appearing to rifle through her pockets.

One had hold of the victim's keys and opened her car which was parked up with the hazard lights on.

At one point one of the men manages to open the driver's door and even sits inside the vehicle.

However they do not steal it and flee several seconds later as the woman continues to wriggle in distress

With Mr Royce's permission, we published the footage to show the true extent of what happened to her and in the hope someone may come forward with information.

He told the M.E.N: "I hope that the release of this is powerful as it may lead to someone being brought to justice and it may act as a deterrent to anyone doing anything like this in the future."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 6322 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
