Man arrested after woman falls from balcony at Gosforth flat

A man has been arrested after a woman fell from the balcony of a flat in Newcastle.

The 28-year-old woman is in hospital in a stable condition, police say.

Emergency services were called to William Street in Gosforth shortly before 5am on Tuesday.

Police attended and say that there were signs of a disturbance inside the address.

A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Today (Tuesday) at 4.50 am police were called to assist paramedics at an address in William Street, Gosforth, following reports that a 28-year-old woman had fallen from a balcony.

“Paramedics treated the woman and she was taken to hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

“Officers spoke to neighbours and inspected the address and found signs of a disturbance.

“Subsequently a 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing GBH with intent and remains in custody.

“Enquiries are still on-going into the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police using the online reporting system quoting log 99 31/03/20.”
