Man arrested after woman and teenager allegedly 'shot at' in botched Ayrshire gun attack

A man has been arrested after reports a woman and teen were 'shot at' outside an Ayrshire house.

Cops swooped on Hawthorn Crescent in Beith after the incident on Thursday, December 3 which took place in the early hours of the morning.

The 53-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were allegedly targeted as they walked along the street. The shots missed the pair who are unhurt after the terrifying incident.

Pictures from the scene at the time show a heavy police presence in the area.

Police have since confirmed a 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due in court.

A force spokesperson told the Record: "A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a report of an alleged firearm being discharged towards a 53-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man in Beith.

"The incident happened on Hawthorn Crescent in the town, around 1.15am on Thursday, 3 December, and nobody was injured. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.

“The 28-year-old man is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 8 December.”
