Man arrested after windows are smashed at exclusive £2000-a-night Edinburgh hotel

A man has been arrested in Edinburgh after damage to the windows of a posh city centre hotel.

A suspected vandal allegedly smashed the windows at the five-star Grand Hotel on St Andrews Square on Tuesday morning.

Police Scotland officers were called to the incident some time after 9am on Tuesday morning.

The Daily Record reported a 58-year-old man experienced minor injuries and was taken to hospital after he was arrested.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Around 9.05am on Tuesday, 2 June, we were called to reports of a man vandalising a business on St Andrew Square.

“Officers attended and a 58-year-old man was arrested. He has been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

The former RBS building opened as a luxury hotel two years ago after an £85m refit.
