Man arrested after van ends up in a lake in Cheadle

A man has been arrested after the van he was driving ended up in a lake in Cheadle.

Police say the man was taken into custody after a breathalyser test at the scene, near Wilmslow Road.

The suspect had ‘a soggy trip to custody’, according to Greater Manchester Police officers.

A spokesperson for the force said officers were called to the Cheadle Royal bus park, off Wilmslow Road, at around 1.20pm on Thursday (June 13).

“A man had driven a white Peugeot van into a lake. He has since been arrested” they said.

Local officers shared details of the incident on social media on Thursday afternoon.

A tweet on the GMP Cheadle‏ account read: “Male arrested approx 10 mins ago after driving in to lake in Heald Green, blew 66 on breathalyser. A soggy trip to custody it is!”
