A man is due to face court after two police cars were rammed in Geelong.

The 20-year-old was arrested on Sunday night after Victoria Police officers tried to intercept a car at a service station on Thompson Rd.

A routine check showed the licence plates were false.

Two police cars blocked the motorist and he rammed them as he tried to escape.

Police smashed the car windows and used capsicum spray to arrest him.

According to police, drugs and a "significant quantity" of cash were found in the car.

They said the man will face Geelong Magistrates Court on Monday and is expected to be charged with a number of offences, including reckless conduct endangering serious injury, committing an indictable offence while on bail, driving while disqualified, possessing cannabis and theft.
