Man arrested after throwing beer over schoolchildren during climate change protest

Police have arrested a man seen throwing beer over school children marching through Leeds in protest over climate change.

He was seen throwing beer over students and schoolchildren taking part, before being arrested and taken away by officers.

Over 100 young people have ditched lessons to get involved in the international movement known as 'Youth Strike'.

The protesters gathered outside Leeds Civic Hall before marching through the streets of Leeds city centre, stopping traffic on major roads. Other similar demonstrations are taking place across the globe.

Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg sparked the Youth Strike movement when she staged a solo protest in her home country last August.

In Leeds, the focus is on Leeds City Council's decision to facilitate the expansion of Leeds Bradford Airport.
