On Wednesday, October 26, police officers were called to reports that a group of teenage boys riding bicycles were chased by a group of men driving a white smart car at around 8.30pm. It was reported one of the teenagers was forced off his bike, and then attacked by the group.

The boy suffered several serious injuries to his head, face and body, and had to be taken to hospital after the incident. Police have since arrested a man from Coventry in relation to the incident.

The 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent. He has since been released on conditional bail.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police told the ECHO: "I can confirm that a 27 year old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent. He has been released on conditional bail.

"The investigation remains open and we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward."

Following the incident, detective inspector Darren Hankin previously said: "This was an unprovoked attack which has left a teenage boy with a serious injury to his head. We are currently carrying out a number of CCTV and witness enquiries in the area and are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the assault or any suspicious behaviour at around 8.30pm yesterday in the area of Park Road North.

“The incident happened on a main road near other stores where people would have been shopping or returning home. If you were near the park at the time of the assault and have any dashcam or CCTV footage, we would also like to hear from you as soon as possible.”
