Man arrested after swinging Samurai sword in New York Apple store

A man walked into an Apple store and began swinging a Samurai sword.

Hsu Chien walked into the flagship store in Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue and began performing lunges and parries while wielding a large Samurai sword.

Wearing a hat and sunglasses, 30-year-old Mr Chien started reciting a countdown, leading to customers rushing for the emergency exits, CBS reported.

Videos captured from inside the store show Mr Chien sitting down on the stairs in the iconic Apple Store, waving the sword around his head and then dropping it onto the spiral steps.

Two off-duty police officers tackled him and he was taken to Bellevue Hospital for a psychiatric examination, Metro reported.

Witnesses said the entire incident was over within a matter of minutes and the Apple Store didn’t even close.

There were no injuries and the incident was not terror-related, police confirmed. Mr Chien has been charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
