Man arrested after stolen car crashes into other vehicles on busy road in south Manchester

A man has been arrested after a stolen car crashed close to a busy roundabout in south Manchester.

Police officers spotted the vehicle being driven in Wythenshawe but the driver crashed just moments later, before a pursuit could begin.

Nobody was injured during the incident, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

The A560 Altrincham Road, at Baguley, was blocked at the Princess Parkway roundabout while police worked to clear the scene.

Drivers were being advised to use an alternative route in the meantime.

A GMP spokesman said: "At around 6.50pm an outstanding stolen vehicle crashed on Altrincham Road which also caused damage to other vehicles on the scene.

"The vehicle was seen by officers and crashed shortly afterwards."

Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted: "Due to a Police incident, the A560 Altrincham Road in Baguley is currently blocked at the M56/Princess Parkway roundabout. Please use an alternative route. #TfGMTraffic"
