GARDAI have arrested a man following a stabbing incident on Wednesday morning where both he and another woman were injured.
It happened at Castletown Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth at around 9am.
The pair were left with serious injuries and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.
The man had earlier been seen by neighbours lying on the path covered in blood before gardai and then paramedics turned up.
Having been treated in hospital, the man was discharged and arrested by gardai.
The suspect, in his 30s, is now being held at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
A garda spokesman confirmed: "Gardai are investigating an incident of assault that occurred on Castletown Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth this morning, Wednesday 28th July 2021 at approximately 9am.

"Two persons, a male and female, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda with what are believed to be serious but non-life threatening injuries.
"A man in his 30s has since been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently being detained at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
"Investigations are ongoing."
