Man arrested after Scots cops receive chilling threat to 'harm officers with a knife'

A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to stab cops in Aberdeen in a chilling phone threat.

Locals reported seeing armed police and dog units swoop on the city's Greenburn Drive in the Bankhead area.

Dramatic pictures show several police vans and cars near the Crofter's shop.

It comes after a man phoned the police and said he had a knife and wanted to harm officers.

Cops searched for the caller around the city and traced a man at Greenburn Drive at around 2pm.

Police have said a 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 1.05pm on Saturday, 20 February, officers received a call from a man in Aberdeen who stated he was in possession of a knife and was threatening to harm police officers.

"Officers carried out a number of searches and enquiries to identify and locate him. He was traced around 2pm in Greenburn Drive, Aberdeen.

“The 29 year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident. A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
