Man arrested after Scots cop allegedly attacked at Haymarket Station

A man has been arrested after a Scots police officer was allegedly attacked outside a train station.

British Transport Police (BTP) acknowledged a video circulating online of an officer being assaulted outside Haymarket Station in Edinburgh on Saturday.

The cop was spotted at the side entrance to the station at around 5.30pm.

On Tuesday BTP told Edinburgh Live that a 24-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the incident and a breach of the peace offence.

Enquiries are ongoing.

A statement read: "British Transport Police is aware of a video on social media showing an officer being assaulted at Edinburgh Haymarket railway station on Sunday, August 29.

"The incident occurred at just before 5.30pm.

"A 24-year-old man was subsequently arrested connection to the assault and a breach of the peace offence.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
