Man arrested after Scots cancer centre trashed

Police have arrested a man after an Inverness cancer centre was trashed at the weekend.

Windows and doors at Maggie’s Highland, next to Raigmore Hospital, were smashed in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Cancer patients had their appointments cancelled at the facility after the charity was forced to cancel their slots.

The centre, which offers care and support to  cancer  sufferers and their families, is now closed for deep cleaning.

A 26-year-old man has now been charged in connection with the break-in.

The man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and is expected to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date.

Inspector Nick Macrae of Burnett Road Police Station said: "We would like to thank the members of the public for their assistance with our enquiries into this incident."
