A man was arrested after a rough sleeper was kicked to the face in a vicious city centre attack.
Police have confirmed that a 24-year-old was detained on Friday evening on suspicion of assault.
It comes after a video was published by the ECHO and showed a rough sleeper being shouted at and kicked outside the Tesco Express on Dale Street.
The incident happened on Wednesday, December 9 and showed a man sitting on the footpath in a sleeping bag.
He is then approached by another man as he sits defenceless with his arms tucked inside the sleeping bag.
After gesturing angrily in the victim's face, a man can be seen to look away before turning back and delivering a violent kick straight to the man's face.
Three men then cycle away from the scene.
A woman, with a man, witnesses the assault and covers her face with her hands in horror.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed a man had been arrested over the attack and a number of other offences.
They added: "We have this evening, Friday 11th December, arrested a 24 year-old man on suspicion of s18 assault following an incident in Liverpool city centre.

"We were made aware of a video circulating on social media which appeared to show a man being assaulted outside the Tesco Express store on Dale Street on Wednesday night, 9th December.
"The man who was assaulted was later located safe and well.
"The 24 year-old, from the Liverpool area, has also been arrested on suspicion of theft of a bike, possession of a controlled drug, criminal damage and handling stolen goods.
"He is currently in custody where he will be questioned by detectives."
