Man arrested after reports of person throwing “suspected bleach” at cars on busy main road

A man has been arrested after reports of a person attempting to throw “suspected bleach” at cars on a busy main road in north Manchester.

Police were called to Ashton New Road, in Clayton, at around 4.30pm this afternoon (August 11).

Their attendance followed reports that a man was “attempting to throw suspected bleach at nearby cars”.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of affray.

The incident is understood to have unfolded on the busy main road, close to the Aldi supermarket.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 4.30pm on Tuesday 11 August 2020, police were called to Ashton New Road to reports that a man was attempting to throw suspected bleach at nearby cars.

“Officers attended and arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of affray.

“He is being taken to custody.”
