Detectives investigating a reported kidnapping incident in North Belfast on Thursday have made an arrest.

It's reported that at around 8.05pm, two men on Dunblane Avenue were ordered into a white Berlingo van and driven away to the Black Mountain.

One of the men was then allegedly assaulted before the van travelled onto the Oldpark area.

A 36-year-man was arrested on Friday evening, police say.

Detective inspector O’Flaherty said: “The man, who was arrested in the Crumlin area on suspicion of kidnapping, aggravated burglary and firearm offences, is in police custody at this time.

“Enquiries are continuing and we continue to appeal to anyone with any information in relation to this incident, to contact our detectives at Musgrave on 101 and quote reference number 1620 10/12/20.

“You can also submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via  http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/or  you can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at  http://crimestoppers-uk.org/."
