Merseyside Police at Knowsley arrested a man yesterday on suspicion of production of cannabis along with abstracting electricity after a cannabis farm was located by officers in Abberley Road, Halewood.
The male was taken to custody for questioning.
Cannabis remains illegal to possess, distribute, sell or grow in the UK. It is classified as a Class B drug. As such, any person who is caught with cannabis risks up to five years' imprisonment, an unlimited fine, or both.
Production is classified as a "trafficking" offence. This allows for authorities to order a POCA (Proceeds of a Crime) hearing. POCA provides the courts with scope to confiscate the proceeds of a crime where a defendant is shown to have benefited from their criminal conduct.
